Expand your vocabulary and understanding of contemporary tango with a class reserved for the more experienced dancer. The complex movements and steps are used as a tool for not just increasing your repertoire, but more importantly, greatly improve your technique (that much abused and misunderstood term in today’s tango). Particular attention is paid
to ones’ natural movements, improvisation and ability to fit the steps to the music.
This is a class for both men and women with a command of giros/changes of direction and a good understanding of such classic components as sacadas and boleos. From there we will explore and develop more advanced elements (such as colgadas, volcadas, enrosques, reverse barridas, back sacadas) and how to combine them elegantly into an overall, coherent dance.
Alexis’ creative, powerful and eye-catching approach can be seen on display throughout the milongas of the greater LA area. Barbara, a former professional ballerina, is widely admired as a graceful and exquisite dancer (recently partnering with none other than Chicho). Their sharp eye for detail and formidable technique will help make your tango more confident and expressive. They bring a wealth of experience and a clear teaching methodology to their dynamic lessons, in the intricate and intimate art of Tango.
